face the music 面对现实

【讲解】：

短语face the music 源于美国军队士兵所接受惩罚的一种仪式，据说当某个士兵犯了军纪，并被开除时，军官宣布他的罪状时要放一种音乐，而犯了军纪的士兵只好低头面对这种音乐。后来该短语就用来指“接受惩罚，承担后果”。

【对话】

A : l crashed my father's car.

B : l'm sorry to hear that, but it's good to see you are all right.

A : l'm sure l'll have his back up. l really don't know l can escape the punishment.

B : You'd better tell your father what happened and face the music.

【翻译】

A：我把我爸的车撞坏了。

B：听你这么说真难过，但你没事就好。

A：我肯定他会生气的。我真不知道怎样才能免受惩罚。
